A magnificent Maru-obi inspired by Hasegawa Tōhaku's "Willow Bridge Waterwheel" (Tokyo National Museum).
The design draws from a pattern popular during the Momoyama period. Uji Bridge signifies aspirations for the afterlife, while a pair of herons embodies vitality, making it ideal for special and festive occasions.
Crafted with genuine gold leaf, black lacquer leaf, and over ten types of colored gold yarn, the obi features a black-based front and a gold-based back. The brilliance of the genuine gold leaf is particularly striking, changing beautifully under different lighting conditions to create a richly expressive aesthetic. As there are no longer any craftsmen capable of weaving obi of this caliber, only a limited number remain available.
The obi also highlights nature emblematic of Japan's four seasons—willows, maples, cherry blossoms, and plum blossoms—showcasing the Japanese people's unique and delicate appreciation for natural beauty. It commands an overwhelming presence, embodying both artistry and cultural heritage.
