Introducing Ms. Marie Sakata, the Artisan Behind Rui Couture

 

Ms. Marie Sakata oversees every step of creating Rui Couture pieces with unparalleled craftsmanship. In 2017, she renovated the storage shed at her grandparents’ house into her own atelier Nui, where she launched her career as an independent seamstress. From clothing alterations to custom-made garments, she handles every task herself with meticulous care and expertise.

A lover of antiques, Ms. Sakata has adorned her atelier with carefully curated treasures, crafting a space as charming as it is inspiring.

In 2024, she expanded her creative journey by launching her original brand, nui, where she designs and creates original fabrics and accepts orders for custom garments crafted from them. The second floor of her atelier now serves as a boutique showcasing her clothing, as well as a space for hosting collaborative events with other artists and designers.

Ms. Sakata is not only a dedicated sewing artisan but also a designer and creator who has carved out her own distinctive style. Her exceptional work and creative vision were recently featured in the Kobe Shimbun on October 7, 2023.
