Van Gogh "Church of Auvers"

"The Church of Auvers" is one of the works that Van Gogh painted in his later years and marked by psychological instability. The distorted church and strong colour contrast give it an almost bizarre impression, making it both a landscape painting and a work that reflects Van Gogh's inner world.

We have woven this work that represents Van Gogh's originality and artistry into Nishijin textile. The undulating brush strokes and long straight brush strokes are expressed by combining two weft yarns together to create volume. The difference in colour and brushstrokes between the foreground illuminated by the sun and the church in shadow is also masterfully woven. The three-dimensional effect skillfully created by light and shadow in the painting is further enhanced by the texture of the weaving, offering a distinct tactile experience beyond that of the original artwork.
