Step Into the World of Imperial Elegance (Twelve-Layered Ceremonial Kimono)

Discover the grandeur of Japan’s imperial culture with a rare opportunity to wear the Junihitoe (twelve-layered ceremonial kimono), offered by the renowned Nishijin Textile Center. Guided by experts, you'll experience the elegance of this exquisite and highly valued garment, still worn by members of the Imperial family during weddings, connecting with the rich traditions of Japan in a way few others can. 

For men, we also provide the opportunity to don the sokutai, a ceremonial court attire worn during Japan's imperial period. This exquisite garment, consisting of a formal robe, silk cords, and a distinctive hat, represents the height of traditional Japanese court dress. 

At the end of your experience, why not capture the moment with a couple’s photoshoot? Immerse yourselves in the grandeur of Japanese royalty and take home beautiful memories of your regal transformation.

You can also watch the demonstration of hand reeling filature and hand weaving with Jacquard loom by a Nishijinori certified craftsman and small exhibitions about Nishijin textile. An interpreter will accompany you at every stage of the experience.
