News from Nishijin April (2) Ukon Cherry

It was a little disappointing that I couldn't see the cherry blossoms at their best this year. Usually, there are magnificent trees in full bloom at Kamo River and Okazaki Canal, but this year, a storm came at just the right time... Still, the cherry blossom season in Kyoto is exceptional. Everywhere is pink, but the Kamo River is the most beautiful.

The photo shows the Ukon cherry blossoms beginning to bloom at Hirano Shrine.

The double-flowered cherry blossoms will be beautiful for a while to come.
