Kano Tanyu was a genius painter of the Kano school in the early Edo period who became an official painter of the Shogunate at the young age of 16. Drawing inspiration from one of his representative works known as "Happo Nirami no Ryū" (Dragon Glaring in All Directions), a depiction of a dragon at Myoshinji Temple, we have woven a hanging scroll titled "Cloud Dragon." From this hanging scroll, we have extracted and framed the dragon.

The swirling clouds create a dynamic impression with depth, creating a world different from the original. Platinum foil is woven throughout to represent strong wind and water splashes, and silver yarns are also used for the claws of the front paws, and gold yarns are used for the hair and eyes, emphasizing the sublimity and strength of the dragon. .

It is a very popular work and revered for its symbolism.
