This is Renoir's masterpiece depicting a man and woman dancing at the Bougival along the Seine River in Paris, is part of a trilogy published in the same year, along with "Rural Dance" and "City Dance." All three parts are woven and exhibited at the Nishijin Asagi Museum.
This work is perhaps more elegant while also having a more inviting feel compared to the other two. The bright, soft touch unique to Impressionism is vividly woven into this woven artwork. Subtle nuances of color differentiation emerge from the intricate combinations of limited-colored yarns in various areas, so fine that they cannot be discerned by the naked eye. To determine the colors used, the artisans experiment with many similar yet distinct hues, carefully considering the resulting color when intersected with other thread colors. This masterpiece would not have been possible without the Nishijin-ori artisans' precise techniques in color combinations and placement.
