2025 Nishijin Flower Report (March : Plum blossoms at the Imperial Palace)

The long winter is finally drawing to a close, and the lively season is about to begin.

This year, the flowers in Nishijin have been quite slow to bloom. The Kawazu cherry blossoms near Ichijo Modoribashi, which were already in bloom by the first week of March last year, are still in bud. The plum blossoms in the Kyoto Imperial Palace gardens are not yet in full bloom either. Perhaps it's because of the sudden cold spell last week, but this week has finally brought some warmth. Although the frequent rain has left a somewhat damp atmosphere, it seems that spring is now truly on its way.
